New Cooler Master Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Cooler Master SK621: New Wireless Mechanical Keyboard On The Block

You may be familiar with Cooler Master as a manufacturer of gaming related products and peripherals. Despite mechanical “gaming” keyboards often receiving a bad reputation among enthusiasts, Cooler Master has actually released a number of highly regarded mechanical keyboards over the years.

They have a new product releasing soon, the Cooler Master SK621, which is the first release from their new SK600 line of wireless mechanical gaming keyboards available in Full Size, TKL or 60% layout. The SK621 wireless mechanical keyboard is unique in many ways. It’s Cooler Master’s first wireless mechanical keyboard to hit the market, with connectivity provided by means of Bluetooth 4.0 and detachable USB Type-C for wired charging.

The Cooler Master SK621 is a low profile wireless mechanical keyboard with short height keycaps. It makes use of Cherry MX RGB Low Profile mechanical key switches. This is a linear switch (no audible click sound upon actuation) similar to Cherry MX Reds with 45 cN actuation force and a shortened total travel distance of only 3.2mm. In general, a great switch choice for gaming performance.

It not only has RGB backlit keys provided by shine through legends on the keycaps, but RGB accent “ring” lighting as well. The RGB ring lighting is located around the perimeter of the case between the bottom plastic shell and brushed aluminum top plate.

The SK621 is also Cooler Master’s first foray into ultra compact keyboard layouts. It’s a 60% mechanical keyboard with slight alterations/omissions on the right side allowing for dedicated arrow keys. A very popular layout design that happens to be one of my favorites.
