Which brings us to the second big feature; the OLED display on the keyboard itself. Located to the left of a handy volume dial, the display shows you information including what profile you are currently using, and it can also show you notifications from Discord and Spotify. Games can also send you info, but SteelSeries only lists CS: GO and Dota 2 as being compatible.
Other fancy features include a magnetic wrist rest, USB passthrough, three-way cable routing underneath the keyboard, and a roller dial that can be used for volume or to scroll through menus on the OLED display. There's also a media button below it that can be configured in the software. The Apex Pro is a flagship keyboard and will be available in both full-size and tenkeyless (TKL) versions, selling for $199 and $179 respectively. The full-sized Pro version will be available June 11, while the TKL version will arrive in the Fall. The Apex Pro is certainly not a cheap keyboard, but its features are quite novel indeed.
If the Omnipoint switches aren't your cup of tea SteelSeries will also be offering two models with the same chassis but with traditional red, brown, or blue switches in both full-size and tenkeyless sizes for $159 and $129 respectively. The version with the red switches will be available in June, with the other colors following later this year. Josh Norem is IGN’s Executive Editor for Tech.
