Grave of the Fireflies: Studio Ghibli Masterpiece
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As poignant, historical fiction, Grave of the Fireflies takes the viewer inside the culture and lives of Japanese citizens living through WWII. Preteen Seita, the central character in this beautifully animated film, narrates the misfortunate that befalls him and his adorable five-year-old sister Setsuko after their mother dies in the firebombings of Kobe. While waiting for the return of their father, a naval officer, Seita does his best to care for Setsuko as baisc needs become harder to obtain. Another gem of Anime from Studio Ghibli.

Best Buy sold me a dented case
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m not going to rate the anime less than 5 stars but bestbuy is sold me a dented case . It was the last movie available to purchase in Houston for 2020 and I didn’t want to wait till February to get it shipped . I picked it up on curb side pick up and I could have made it into a deal but I drove to far to pick it up .

Unsung Hero of the Ghibli Catalog
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Isao Takahata is my favorite director of Studio Ghibli's and an integral part of why they are the best animated movie company in the world. He is responsible for masterpieces such as Princess Kaguya and Only Yesterday, but Grave of the Fireflies might just be his best and most profound movie. It is one of my personal Ghibli favorites, up there with When Marnie Was There. It might be a little slow for the younger kids but middle school and high school age could appreciate it as well as adults. You know what's going to happen but there is a beauty in the way it is told that allows you to be completely transported to this situation and captivated throughout the entirety of its run time. Give it a watch and be blown away by the beauty in its simplicity.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the best films yet. It’s an emotional roller coaster, from start to finish. A touching heart warming yet again Tearjerker! You will cry and be moved by this film I guarantee!!! The impact it will have on you. I’ve watched the movie 3 times and it still pulls at my heart. It definitely captures the life of Japanese during WWII and the impact on the children. A truly must see film.

Grave of the fireflies
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very sad especially having a child that looks like the little girl. Great story always a fan of maiazakis work. Honestly i personally can only watch this movie once in many many blue moons. The film sticks in my head to where i cant unsee the sadness that the two children have to go through during a war.

A somber masterpiece
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This film really is tough to watch. It speaks to the sadness of world war 2, in particularly how it affected civilians in Japan. The human casualties and struggle to survive is a sad yet incredibly thought provoking film. This isn't about choosing sides, this is about the cost of war of civilians who are caught in the middle. Sad but incredibly important film.
