Background[edit]

Diao Chan was the adoptive daughter of court official Wang Yun. She was used to be the concubine of Dong Zhuo, and to secretly seduce Lu Bu, causing distrust between the men, and finally forcing Lu Bu to kill his ruler. This plan was conceived by Diao Chan's adoptive father, Wang Yun. Following Dong Zhuo's death, Diao Chan was taken in by Lu Bu as a concubine. She remained with Lu Bu from then on and, with one of Lu Bu's wives, Lady Yan, she convinced him not to leave Xia Pi in order to fight Cao Cao. Because of this, Lu Bu foolishly remained in Xia Pi with his women. After Lu Bu was executed by Cao Cao, what happened to Diao Chan is unknown. Therefore, her death remains a mystery.
